Presentation of YPC First Interim Report on Monitoring of Armenian Broadcast Media Coverage of the Referendum on Amendments to the RA Constitution – March 13, 2020, Yerevan, briefing organized by Yerevan Press Club within the framework of “Media for Informed Civic Engagement” project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Media Initiatives Center. Main issues discussed: interim results of the monitoring of Armenian broadcast media coverage of the Referendum on amendments to the RA Constitution in the first weeks of the official promotion campaign (February 17 – March 4, 2020). On March 16, 2020, due to the spread of coronavirus, state of emergency was announced in Armenia, and the Referendum (originally planned for April 5, 2020) and, accordingly, the promotion campaign were postponed. From March 16, 2020, the monitoring was suspended and will continue after the resumption of the campaign. On March 26, 2020, YPC disseminated online another Interim Report, which presented the monitoring results from the start of the campaign until its termination (February 17 – March 15, 2020).
Role of Local Self-Governance in the Development of Democracy – January 24-26, 2020, Aghveran, Armenia, seminar organized by Yerevan Press Club in the frames of “Civic Engagement in Local Governance” project implemented by YPC in partnership with Communities Finance Officers Association and supported by USAID. The participants (35 in number) were representatives of Armenian state structures, NGOs and media. Main issues discussed: synergy of “Civic Engagement in Local Governance” project as a platform for reforms; media landscape and peculiarities of the work with media; role-playing press conference on problems and priorities of community development; current stage of reforms in the sphere of territorial administration; InfoTun as a factor in enhancing community life.
Current Stage of the Armenian Territorial Administration and Local Self-Governance Sphere Reforms – January 17-19, 2020, Aghveran, Armenia, seminar organized by Yerevan Press Club in the frames of “Civic Engagement in Local Governance” project implemented by YPC in partnership with Communities Finance Officers Association and supported by USAID. The participants (25 in number) were representatives of state structures, media and NGOs of Armenia. Main issues discussed: priorities of “Civic Engagement in Local Governance” project at the current stage; role-playing press conference on community involvement in public hearings; actual process of reforms in the sphere of territorial administration; InfoTun as a factor in enhancing community life; anti-corruption policy of local self-government bodies; presentation of the results of monitoring of the coverage of local self-governance sphere by the Armenian media.
