THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PARLIAMENT COMMISSION AND THE LEADER OF ARMENIAN RAMKAVAR-AZATAKAN PARTY ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS OF AZERBAIJANI JOURNALISTS

On December 26, 2002 the second of the series of satellite press-conferences Yerevan-Baku was held. The press-conferences are organized under the project of Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs "Armenian-Azerbaijani/Azerbaijani-Armenian Information Center", supported by OSI Network Media Program. They enable the Armenian and Azerbaijani journalists to ask questions to the politicians of the neighboring countries directly, via a space bridge. Technical assistance in this is provided by "Mir" Interstate TV and Radio Company. As it has been reported, the first similar press-conference was held on December 12 last year (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, December 7-13, 2002).

On December 26 the studio in Yerevan hosted the Chairman of the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Issues Shavarsh Kocharian. The questions of the Azerbaijani journalists gathered in Baku studio mostly referred to Karabagh conflict and the prospects of its resolution.

On January 16 the third space bridge Yerevan-Baku was held, where the Chairman of Ramakavar-Azatakan Party of Armenia Ruben Mirzakhanian took part. Along with the questions on Karabagh conflict, traditional for similar dialogues, the Azerbaijani journalists were interested in the assassination of Tigran Naghdalian, the political situation in Armenia before the presidential elections, the relations between Armenia and Turkey, etc.
