YPC AWARDEES FOR YEAR 2000 DETERMINED

On December 29, in Hrazdan Hotel in Yerevan the Annual Award Ceremony of Yerevan Press Club was held

The winners of the annual YPC contest this time were:

Ara Papyan, presently RA Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Canada – for effective co-operation with journalists when holding the position of press-secretary at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

Editorial staff of “Garoun” magazine – for a cycle of translations of foreign authors under the heading “Constellation”;

Valeriy Aydinian (“Novoye Vremya” newspaper) – for collected satirical essays “Tropicana” and for fruitful work in the genres of publicism and satire;

Alexey Manvelian (BBC World Service, Central Asia & The Caucasus Service) – for building up information bridges;

Rouben Mangassarian (“Patker” photo agency) – for professional representation of Armenian photojournalism in foreign media;

“Prometheus” TV company – for achieving creative progress in year 2000;

Natalia Gomtsian (“Golos Armenii” newspaper), Karen Mikayelian (“Novoye Vremya” newspaper) – for professional coverage of cultural life;

Gyumri TV companies “Shant” and “Tsayg” – for effective creative competition at the local broadcast market.

The Embassies of the United Kingdom, France and Germany, as well as the OSCE Mission in Armenia awarded special prizes.
